Welcome to Building Partnerships

Winning Begins at Home

Today, many on the democratic left believe that a dynamic, progressive America is only a Presidential election away. But it wasn't George W. Bush and the right wing in Congress who created the conservative movement; it was the conservative movement that created them.

We believe that winning political power nationally begins at home when progressives join together at the grassroots to craft creative responses to difficult problems in their own communities. By building alliances for sensible development policies, affordable health care, workers rights, environmental justice and more, progressives can build the infrastructure for sustainable change.

It's already happening -- and the people who are making it happen formed Building Partnerships to help activists in other cities do the same.

Peer-to-Peer, City-to-City

What none of us can accomplish alone, all of us can achieve together. But today many community leaders who could be allies aren't in the same room; let alone the same organization. Building Partnerships helps local organizers overcome lingering divisions and misconceptions to bring diverse leaders together to assess community needs and craft progressive approaches to meet them.

Through our program of outreach, training and peer-based technical support, Building Partnerships helps create the organizational infrastructure and the trust necessary to create both common ground and a common agenda for union leaders, community activists, small business owners, religious leaders, educators and others.

Working together with local activists, Building Partnerships is helping to build a new progressive movement from the grassroots up.

And we don't have a moment to spare.
